Recently, RC Burdwan successfully organised a District Mental Health seminar *,Moner kotha - The Whispers Of The Minds!* It was in three parts. The first part was In Magnus Global School where more than 200 children participated and interacted. In the second phase,it was a musical therapy and sound based relaxation activities for Old people at *Nabanir Bridhashram!* Third phase was for Rotarians and non-rotarians with discussion and interactive sessions along with musical therapy! Other members of RAGMHI .President in charge rtn Syamantak Haldar, rtn Dr , rtn team RC Burdwan and of course our beloved DG rtn Dr Kameswar Singh Elangbam whose presence made the program a grand success ❤️🙏🏼! Monthly Free Eye Checkup Camp

A Free Eye Check-up Camp was organised by the Rotary Club of Burdwan at Rotary Bhaban on 3rd Saturday of every month. This ongoing, self-funded initiative of RC Burdwan aims to provide free eye examinations to underprivileged and needy people. Around 35 patients attended the camp, out of which 19 were identified and selected for cataract surgery. The programme reflected the club’s commitment to community health and service, bringing hope and better vision to those in need.

Childrens Day Celebration Community Service

Childrens Day Celebration

On the occasion of Children’s Day on 14th November, the Rotary Club of Burdwan organised a joyful Children’s Day celebration at Gurunanak Free Primary School, Tinkonia, Burdwan, at 12:30 p.m. The club served protein-rich meals, including chicken, and distributed colourful pencil boxes and chocolates among 70 students. The children enthusiastically participated in the programme and presented beautiful group dance performances. Their energy, confidence, and cheerful smiles filled the atmosphere with happiness. The Rotary members truly cherished every moment, and the radiant faces of the children brought immense joy and satisfaction to everyone present.

Mega Polio Awareness Rally on World Polio Day

On World Polio Day at Burdwan: Rotary Club of Burdwan organised a zonal Mega Polio Awareness Rally with all rotary clubs of zone 3. On the occasion of World Polio Day, a walkathon was organized jointly by Purba Bardhaman Cycling Club, Startup Foundation, and seven clubs of Rotary International. The walkathon started from Burdwan Police Lines and ended at Badamtala Sri Aurobindo Stadium. The event was inaugurated by Partha Ray, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the district. Over three hundred enthusiastic Rotarians participants, including students from various schools and colleges’ NSS and NCC units, took part in the event. On behalf of the organizers, Sandeepan Sarkar mentioned that although India has eradicated polio, some neighboring countries still report polio cases, posing a risk of infection. Therefore, such awareness programs have been organized over the past few years to promote 100% polio vaccination.

- Rotary Club of Burdwan, on 21st August, took up the cause of boosting Govt. programme "Saksham Anganwadi Mission" and addressed the following issue at Sagrai Anganwadi Centre (AWC) under Khandaghosh Block. 1. PROMOTING DIGITAL LEARNING: presented the AWC with TVs and with pendrives containing drama videos for children. 2. ENCOURAGE CHILDREN: To have meals at AWCs in dining table and attend class every day. We provided chair-table sets. 3. PROMOTE PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE: Distribution of Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) kits. 4. PROMOTING HEALTHY GROWTH - Supply of nutritional food packets to the beneficiaries at Anganwadi Centre (AWC)

Inauguration of Chess Academy

Rotary Club of Burdwan inaugurated the Chess Academy, managed by Purba Bardhaman Chess Association, on 6th August at 5 PM at Rotary Bhavan. The event was graced by Shri Dibyendu Barua, India’s 2nd Grandmaster and Arjuna Awardee. The academy offers regular training under professional guidance. More than just a game, chess fosters strategic thinking, problem-solving, and life planning. Inspired by these values, the academy is a joint initiative with the Purba Bardhaman Chess Association, made possible by the efforts of Rtn. Rajesh Surana and Rtn. Moinuddin Chowdhury. This is the first Chess Academy of its kind in our town, aimed at encouraging young boys and girls to engage with this enriching indoor sport.

Rotary Club Of Burdwan is running the Diabetes and adult health cheakup clinic at our club building for last 25 years very succesgully.. Its one of our permanent health project. Its held on 2nd Thursday of every month. Our doctor members are treating the patients at the clinic. Around 30 patients are treated every month. The pharmaceutical company like Sunpharma are providing the logistic support. Its a very popular health project amoung the local community. Last Thursday 10th July at this diabetes clinic at our club building 20 patients were attended and given advice.

Rotary Club Of Burdwan organised a Tree plantation drive to celebrate Van Mahotsav week at Idilpur Dam and in the area of Nabanir Briddhasram, Kanchan Nagar, Bardhaman, on 20 th July 2025. Members came forward in the project, with the aim of promoting Environmental Awareness and contribute towards a Greener Planet. It was a great opportunity to spend some time together outdoors, learn about the importance of trees and make a positive impact on our communities.

Awareness Camp on care of pregnant mother&newborn

On 18th July, Rotary Club Of Burdwan celebrated Maternal and Child Health Month by organizing an Awareness Camp and Seminar, on "Care of Pregnant mother and Newborn", at Jagori Hall, Tinkonia, Goods Shed Road, Burdwan. Some Specialist Doctors were present for giving advice on well being of pregnant mothers and newborn babies. The following renowned Doctors were present there - Dr. Rimik Biswas(Chief Guest of our programme, a renowned Gynaeclogist), Rtn. Dr. Sujan Sarkar, Rtn. Dr. Mahmood Hossain and Rtn Dr. Chandrajit Kundu. Mothers were very satisfied to learn many important information about self-care and care for their child during pregnancy and post natal period. We also distributed protein rich nutritious food packets to 30 mothers. Most of the members of our club were present there.

Happy School Project Community Service

Happy School Project

Rotary Club Of Burdwan organised the Happy School project at Nababhat Free Primary School, jointly with 108 Shiv Mandir, Lokeseva Parisad, on 8th July. The Chief guest of the event was, the honorable District Magistrate of Burdwan, Mrs. Ayesha Rani. Besides, Chairman of Municipality, the BDO and officials from The Educational Department and most of the members of RC Burdwan were also present for the inauguration of the Happy School project. We distributed 70 school bags with study materials among the students and also contributed one Smart TV and Three Computers to the school, for advanced study of the students. The Primary School has been renovated, freshly painted and made presentable with some educational grafity. We tried to fulfill all the criteria of a Happy school. We have planned to run regular free health checkup camp for the students and also the adults members of their families. We have also planned to provide free legal aid to the nearby underprivileged local people.

Fruits & sweets distribution among child patients

On 1st July we celebrated the National Doctors Day with great vigour & enthusiasm in the morning. We visited the Lions Child Hospital and distributed fruits and Sweets packet’s among the child patients admitted there. The invaluable smiling faces of the child patients and their mothers really made our beginning of the year very satisfactory and pleasurable.We felicitated two Doctors with “Uttorio” , Mementos and tree saplings.We spent some pleasurable moments with the children and their mothers started the new Rotary Year 2025-26 with a very pleasing and joyful experience in our first project of the year 2025-26.
