Mega Polio Awareness Rally on World Polio Day
On World Polio Day at Burdwan: Rotary Club of Burdwan organised a zonal Mega Polio Awareness Rally with all rotary clubs of zone 3.
On the occasion of World Polio Day, a walkathon was organized jointly by Purba Bardhaman Cycling Club, Startup Foundation, and seven clubs of Rotary International.
The walkathon started from Burdwan Police Lines and ended at Badamtala Sri Aurobindo Stadium. The event was inaugurated by Partha Ray, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the district.
Over three hundred enthusiastic Rotarians participants, including students from various schools and colleges’ NSS and NCC units, took part in the event.
On behalf of the organizers, Sandeepan Sarkar mentioned that although India has eradicated polio, some neighboring countries still report polio cases, posing a risk of infection. Therefore, such awareness programs have been organized over the past few years to promote 100% polio vaccination.
